    § Featured story

Kellogg's · in partnership with RNIB

Kellogg's: accessible labeling across an entire cereal range

After a world-first pilot on Coco Pops with the Royal National Institute of Blind People, Kellogg's confirmed the rollout of NaviLens codes across all cereal boxes: ingredients, allergens and nutrition info accessible from any phone for blind and low-vision shoppers.

    § NaviLens on packaging

Identify products and access their information without seeing them.

A quick look at how NaviLens codes printed on packaging allow a blind or low-vision person to recognize the product, read ingredients and expiration date independently, scanning with their phone from any angle.

    § Compliance

Labeling accessibility: requirements and best practices

Accessible labeling helps more people understand product information on equal terms. NaviLens adds an accessible digital layer to the pack to expand ingredients, allergens, instructions and warnings, without replacing the mandatory information that must appear on the packaging.

    • FDA / FALCPA

US food labeling and the 9 major allergens

21 CFR Part 101 sets what must appear on pack, and FALCPA—expanded by the FASTER Act, which added sesame as the ninth major allergen in January 2023—governs allergen declaration. NaviLens replaces none of it: it makes the very same content readable aloud for shoppers who can't read the print.

    • Natasha's Law

      UK allergen labeling

The UK's Food Information Amendment—Natasha's Law—made full ingredient and allergen labeling mandatory on prepacked-for-direct-sale food. NaviLens gives blind and partially sighted shoppers voice access to exactly that information.

    • Accessible Rx labels

      Why brands are moving now

The Access Board's best practices for accessible prescription labels, the ACB settlements with the major US pharmacy chains and California's accessible-label rule turned talking labels from a courtesy into an expectation—and retailers are extending that expectation upstream to suppliers. NaviLens is already on shelf with Kellogg's, P&G, Coca-Cola and Nestlé.
