Quorn Foods × NaviLens
Quorn Foods is the UK's number-one meat-free brand (Kantar), present in virtually every major British retailer. Part of Monde Nissin since 2015, it produces mycoprotein from its Stokesley plant (North Yorkshire).
With the launch of Tomato & Mozzarella Escalopes and Mini Vegan Sausage Rolls, Quorn becomes the first meat-free brand to put NaviLens on pack. The Grocer, Grocery Trader, Frozen Foods Biz, Food Ingredients First and The Plant Base picked it up as a category milestone.
- 01
Vegan vs. vegetarian
Quorn's range mixes vegan and vegetarian SKUs in nearly identical packs. For a blind or partially sighted shopper, telling whether a product contains egg or dairy is almost impossible without help.
- 02
Cold aisle, fast shopping
Frozen food is grabbed quickly, with gloves and dim light. Small print and reflective film mean even partially sighted users can't read instructions or allergens.
- 03
Category trust
Converting an omnivorous or flexitarian shopper requires communicating a lot: ingredients, nutrition, oven or pan times. Without accessibility that message is lost.
Quorn prints the NaviLens code directly on the new SKUs. NaviLens and NaviLens GO apps detect it from several metres (up to 12× the distance of a standard QR code), without aiming, and read out brand, variety, ingredients, allergens and cooking instructions in the user's language.
The rollout is part of Quorn's wider inclusive-packaging strategy, aligned with its brand communications and with RNIB's work on FMCG accessibility. Quorn frames it as a first step, with the intention of scaling to more SKUs.
“We want every shopper — including blind and partially sighted people — to be able to pick up a meat-free meal with confidence. NaviLens is how we start to make that part of the everyday freezer aisle.”
