A mural of a blind superhero
that can also be heard.
To mark the release of "Daredevil: Born Again", Disney+ and RNIB unveiled in March 2025 a mural by Insane51 at Manchester's Corn Exchange, with a tactile version and audio description triggered by a NaviLens code.

Disney+ & Marvel — with RNIB
Disney+ and Marvel Television rolled out the launch campaign for the series "Daredevil: Born Again" — starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk — with a large-format mural in the heart of Manchester.
The piece was produced through agency Premier and London studio Blank Walls, and signed by Greek artist Insane51, known worldwide for his red/blue double-exposure technique. Accessibility was designed in partnership with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), aligning the campaign with the universe of the character itself — a blind superhero.
The mural was on display temporarily from 17 March 2025 on the facade of the Corn Exchange, on Fennel Street, in the city's historic core.
§ The challenge
Making sure street art doesn't leave out those who can't see.
- 01
Public art that excludes
A large-format urban mural is, by definition, a visual experience. For the nearly two million people living with sight loss in the UK (RNIB), the piece is out of reach: no description, no texture, no audio layer.
- 02
A series about a blind superhero
"Daredevil: Born Again" centres on Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with heightened perception. Disney+ didn't want a campaign that boasted of inclusion only on screen: the launch had to be consistent with the character on the street as well.
- 03
Adding tactile and audio layers without breaking the mural
The technical challenge was to add a tactile version and a professional audio description without spoiling Insane51's double-exposure composition — the code had to be activated from a distance, with no precise framing and without touching the wall.

§ The solution
Three layers: visual, tactile and audio.
Insane51 painted the piece in his double-exposure technique — a red layer with Daredevil and a blue layer with Kingpin — that can be seen with the naked eye or through coloured lenses. RNIB added a tactile version of the composition to be explored by hand.
Next to the mural a NaviLens code was installed: scanning it with a phone plays the professional audio description of the piece (the Mural_AD.wav file published by RNIB). The code is detected from several metres away and with no need for precise framing — key for blind users.

Commission to Insane51 via Blank Walls
Disney+ and agency Premier commission the mural through London studio Blank Walls. Greek artist Insane51 — a world reference for the red/blue double-exposure technique — designs the piece, inspired by the duality of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk.

Production on the street
The Blank Walls crew sets up scaffolding and cherry pickers in front of the Corn Exchange. Insane51 paints the piece live — red layer and blue layer overlaid — with the lines "Chaos must reign" and "The devil's work is never done".

Unveiling with RNIB
Disney and RNIB officially present the mural on Fennel Street. Sonali Rai (RNIB) notes that "a show about a blind superhero is the perfect catalyst for making public art more inclusive". The piece features a tactile version and a NaviLens code that triggers the audio description.

Manchester Evening News, ManchesterWorld, About Manchester, Get Your Comic On and Verge Magazine cover the unveiling; RNIB publishes the audio description file (Mural_AD.wav) on its website as a free download.
