NaviLens is now a B Corp

NaviLens has earned B Corp certification. What it means, why getting there as a small company was not easy, and why it is less a finish line than a commitment to the way we want to do business.

Some news you receive with joy. Other news you receive with genuine excitement, the kind that makes you want to share it and celebrate it. Today we can say it with pride: NaviLens is a Certified B Corporation.

And although behind those words there is a long, demanding process full of lessons, what matters most to us is not having earned a certification, but what it means.

    01

What does it mean to be a B Corp?

B Corp (opens in a new tab) is a certification that recognizes companies meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. But being a B Corp means more than doing things right.

It means understanding that a company should not only ask how much it grows or how much revenue it makes, but also what impact it has on people, on society and on the planet.

B Corps are part of an international movement that sets out to prove it is possible to build competitive, profitable companies that also have a positive impact. And that is exactly where we feel NaviLens fits.

Because our technology has a very clear mission: to make the world more accessible and inclusive for everyone. For NaviLens, impact is not something we add to our business: our technology was designed from day one to create that impact.

That is why, when we started the B Corp certification process, we discovered something that made us especially proud: many of the questions the process asked us were already part of conversations we had been having at NaviLens for years.

Getting there as a small company was not easy

Being a B Corp demands a lot. And for a small company like NaviLens, it probably demands even more. We do not have the resources or the structures of a large corporation: everyone wears many hats, teams are small and every working hour counts.

So taking on the certification process was a significant effort. We had to review processes, gather information, document policies, analyze the way we work and, in many cases, ask ourselves whether we could do better.

And we had to do it while continuing to do what we do every day: develop our technology, work with our customers and partners, grow as a company and, above all, try to get NaviLens into the hands of more and more people.

It was not simple, and that is exactly why the satisfaction of achieving it is even greater. Because this certification is not the result of one person's or one department's work. It is the result of the whole team's effort.

A certification that recognizes us, and also commits us

Becoming a B Corp does not mean we have reached a finish line; quite the opposite. The certification asks us to take on an even greater commitment to the way we do business.

Because being a B Corp means measuring ourselves, questioning ourselves and continuing to improve. It means not settling for saying we have a positive impact, but trying to prove it and grow it. And it also means accepting that there will always be things we can do better.

That feels especially important to us. We do not want to be a perfect company. We want to be a company that keeps trying to improve. A company that understands growth is not only about having more customers, more projects or more people on the team. It is also about increasing our capacity to create positive impact.

    04

NaviLens is a B Corp because it is in our DNA

Perhaps the best way to explain why NaviLens is a B Corp is to go back to the beginning. NaviLens was born to do something we believe is worth doing: use technology so that people who are blind or have low vision can move through the world more independently.

    • That idea is present in our product.
    • It is present in the people who make up our team.
    • It is present in the projects we choose.
    • And it is present in the way we understand growth.

That is why, rather than saying "NaviLens has become a B Corp," we like to think that NaviLens has been recognized for the fact that the way we want to do things is aligned with the B Corp movement.

The seal matters. So does the process. But what truly matters is what lies behind it: a team that believes technology can change things, a company that wants to grow without losing sight of why it exists, and a conviction we have shared from the start: doing business and creating positive impact are not two different paths. They can, and should, be part of the same one.

    05

Today we celebrate that NaviLens is a B Corp

We celebrate because we know how much work it took to get here. We celebrate because, as a small company, we made it through a demanding process.

"But above all, we celebrate because this recognition reminds us why we do what we do. And it makes us want to keep doing it even more."

    Frequently asked questions

    What is a B Corp?
A company certified by B Lab, a nonprofit organization, after verifying that it meets high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. The certification measures impact across five areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers.
What changes for NaviLens customers and partners?
In the product, nothing: NaviLens is the same technology. What changes is that an independent organization has now verified the way we run the company, and that we commit to measuring it, publishing it and improving it in each recertification cycle.
Why would an accessibility company get certified as a B Corp?
Because the certification evaluates the whole company, not only its mission. A product with positive impact does not guarantee that governance, the team or the supply chain have it too. B Corp verifies exactly that.
